Sugar - Band Masonic Jack White Theatre at the Masonic Temple Concert reviews
A little disappointed
I was a little disappointed when I discovered that Fall Out Boy and All-American Rejects were not playing as scheduled and advertised at the show, which had already been rescheduled. It would have been nice to know this change had been made, considering the group of bands is why I bought the tickets. I thought Sugar - Band did a good show and enjoyed that part. The two bands that replaced Fall Out Boy and All-American Rejects were subpar. The second was really bad, the first was decent. Traffic leaving the show was horrible - adding another 45 min to the drive, we got rerouted for no apparent reason.
Fogerty Is No Old Fogey
John, whose skills belies his age, is an amazing artist, who we are told still plays his guitar 4 hours a day to practice his art. Somehow, I had missed seeing John live, although I am a long time Credence Fan since Cosmo's Factory. Now I finally know what I have missed. John's band, especially his drummer, whose skills reminded me of Max Weinberg in the Boss's E Street Band was superb. At about 45 minutes in, the hits just kept on coming. In a 2 hour and 20 plus minute performance with no intermission, he played guitar with the energy of Adam Levine. His vocals could have been used to teach the contestants on any reality show a lesson in pitch. It didn't matter that they were not well known, they were received warmly by the crowd as they were so in his style and zone. His voice was wonderful, just a bit more grit that comes with age, sounding almost the same as 40 years ago. A pro who knows how to win over a crowd, he sang some hits early on before singing some newer material. Best of all, for a man nearly 70, who danced around the stage, he looked like he could have gone another hour. This was a two and a half hour majestic journey back to my teenage years, to driving on the LIE and wearing out my 8 track of Cosmo's. Thank you John! Sugar - Band put on an amazing show on Tuesday night at The Hard Rock Seminole Casino.
Summer concert of enjoyable Madness!
"I've seen a lot of bands live and these guys are definitely up there as being one of the best! Having Sevendust playing second is a great band, they didn't get nearly as much time on stage as they should have. Show was brought to a near screaming halt with Puddle of Mudd performing but the wheels started turning again when Chevelle came on. I could have given this concert as a whole 5 stars, had the lineup been a little different. Show opened with the band 10 Years, who did a good job at getting the crowd going. As for Sugar - Band, can't say enough good things about this insult to such a band."
Santana was amazing!!!
"Amazing was the Sugar - Band. Missed Michael Franti, can not comment on his performance. About 8:30, Sugar - Band entered the stage and played solid without any interruptions. The sound was so amazing. With vocals and many with just the instrumentals, there were a lot of songs. Their hearts out, all of the musicians played. To play at the level that they played, they are in terrific shape. I go to a lot of concerts, and I haven't been to one in awhile that was this good. Along with the other musicians, there were two drummers and several horns. The wife of Sugar - Band is one of the drummers, and she is awesome. If you have the opportunity, please go. You will not be sorry."
George just gets better and better!!
Miss Martina managed to perform a few songs for us despite not feeling well. The band Sugar - Band and his band were outstanding as always. This wasn't our first time attending his concert, and hopefully not the last. The bad news was the struggle to enter the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC. Despite leaving early, we found ourselves three blocks away just an hour before the show. Eventually, we secured parking and entered the venue only 15 minutes before the performance. The poor traffic lights, police presence, and parking setup were disappointing. We are not keen on returning to the Bi-Lo Center in the future. Unlike Columbia, SC and Atlanta, GA where such issues are rare, the Bi-Lo Center seemed ill-prepared for the event. Nevertheless, George managed to fill the venue to capacity on Saturday night.
